expand as they propagate along Z and, although their centers drift apart, there is the distinct possibility that they will never be completely separated. Roughly speaking, we expect the beams to remain more or less collimated between z = 0 and z = D2/ , the Rayleigh range2 for a beam of diameter D and wavelength . If at the Rayleigh range the distance between the beam centers is greater than D, the beams should be separable; otherwise their drifting apart will go hand in hand with their expansion, and the beams remain entangled as they propagate beyond the Rayleigh range. The necessary condition for separability is thus (D2/ ) > D, or equivalently,

Canonical thermostatics of ideal gas in the frame work of generalized uncertainty principle

The statistical consequences of minimal length supposition are investigated for a canonical ensemble of ideal gas. These effects are encoded in the so-called Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) of the second order. In the frame work of the considered GUP scenario, a unique partition function is obtained by using of two different methods of quantum and classical approaches. It should be noti...

The Dirac Equation Approach to Spin - 1 2 Particle Beam Optics

The traditional approach to accelerator optics, based mainly on classical mechanics, is working excellently from the practical point of view. However, from the point of view of curiosity, as well as with a view to explore quantitatively the consequences of possible small quantum corrections to the classical theory, a quantum mechanical formalism of accelerator optics for the Dirac particle is b...

A Hilbert-Space Variational Principle for Spontaneous Wiggler and Synchrotron Radiation

Within the framework of Hilbert space theory, we have developed a maximum-power variational principle applicable to classical spontaneous radiation from prescribed classical harmonic current sources. A simple proof is summarized for the case of three-dimensional fields propagating in vacuum, and specialization to the case of paraxial optics is discussed. The techniques have been developed to mo...

Recent Developments in Quantum Optics

he quantum theory of light predicts many interesting effects that may seem counterintuitive or even impossible from a classical point of view. Several effects of this kind have been investigated at the Applied Physics Laboratory, including a new kind of interferometry, the cancellation of dispersion between two distant media, and a new type of phase associated with the electromagnetic field. So...

Strain gradient torsional vibration analysis of micro/nano rods

Fabrication, characterization and application of micro-/nano-rods/wires are among the hottest topics in materials science and applied physics. Micro-/nano-rod-based structures and devices are developed for a wide-ranging use in various fields of micro-/nanoscience (e.g. biology, electronics, medicine, optics, optoelectronics, photonics and sensors). It is well known that the structure and prope...
